Absentee Presenters...
Your presence will be missed at the Fourth 21st Century Academic Forum Conference at Harvard. However, we are happy that you can participate as an Absentee Presenter. The purpose of this web page is to provide clear instructions on how to prepare and submit your narrated presentation and Conference Proceedings paper. Please don't hesitate to contact our team at with any questions or requests. Thank you again for participating as an Absentee Presenter and we hope you can join us in person at a future 21st Century Academic Forum conference. The 21st Century Academic Forum difference...
The 21st Century Academic Forum strongly encourages presenters to follow Albert Einstein's advice about explaining your work simply and clearly. We take pride in our conferences being interdisciplinary, international, and encouraging impactful/applied research. As such, we hope you will think carefully about what your viewers know and don't know (or frankly doesn't care about). Our conferences are unlike narrowly defined single discipline conferences, and your fellow participants may not know all the terminology, jargon, acronyms, and researchers in your area. Look at this as an opportunity to take a fresh look at your research as you prepare to explain to people who may know little to nothing about your work. Please remember our mantra: keep it simple and clear! Preparing the content of your presentation... We recommend that you approach the preparation of your PowerPoint presentation in exactly the same manner you would if you were delivering an Oral Presentation at the conference. You have 20 minutes to talk about the great work you are doing. PLEASE don't waste 15 of those minutes on a literature review! We have witnessed so many presentations that leave the audience with the same question: What did you actually do? Here is our advice: flip your presentation and use this simple formula: (1) Describe the problem (2) Describe WHY the problem is a problem (3) Describe how your research addresses the problem (4) Describe the impact of your research (5) Describe the next steps in your research Narrating your PowerPoint presentation... If you don't have experience narrating a PowerPoint presentation we recommend watching the video tutorial below. If you still have questions about how to narrate a PPT after watching the tutorial, we recommend asking colleagues or search for other tutorials online. Converting your narrated PowerPoint into a movie format for YouTube... Now just one more step - converting your narrated PowerPoint presentation into a movie format so we can upload it to our YouTube channel. We hope that the video tutorial below will be helpful in this process. The following formats are supported by YouTube:
